Heading out. . .Aaron had to go to youth conference, so the kids and I made our way to Utah. They were amazing in the car! It was a fun drive filled with Hank Smith, music and My Side of the Mountain. We had very little screen time and it was fun to hear the kids comment on their surroundings. When we passed Walker Lake they thought it was the biggest lake they had ever seen. We passed a tiny hill near Schurz and Dallin said that he hoped he could hike a hill like that in zion. We couldn't find a place we wanted to eat at in Tonopah so we ended up at a gas station. The kids thought they were in heaven! They could buy a Cup of Noodle and cook it there, too! They loved picking their own things out and fixing them right in the gas station. It was hilarious.

We all loaded into Brandon and Em's car. Garrett started out on Emily's lap but as we were coming up on a ranger station we could see that they could look in. Frantically we yelled for some kids to hide and Emily launched Garrett to the back seat - help literally flew back. . .it was so funny how fast everyone moved to make it look like we didn't have too many people in the car.
We started out on this little known hike. We were never quite sure where the trail was and we soon realized it was too hard for our five and six year old!

That morning Dallin and I had gone to Costco to get him a life jacket. We didn't get back in time for him to swim so I promised we would go that night. The pool closed at 10. We pulled in about 9:50 and I told Dallin if we ran he could atleast jump in with his new life jacket. We made it with a few minutes to spare, and we let the other kids jump in with their clothes on. It was a fun way to end a great day.
Wyatt bought a 7 in 1 tool and a patch for his souvenir. We knew the temperature and what direction we were hiking for the rest of our trip. It was awesome.

The Subway
We went with Brandon, Emily, Kelli and Jimi on The Subway hike. It was amazingly beautiful. It was one of those experiences where the pictures don't do the views justice.
There are so many different kinds of scenery throughout this hike. I couldn't get over how gorgeous it all was.
Before we left we Jamie and Andy stopped by for a visit. Overall it was an amazing trip! I couldn't get over how good the kids were. They hiked without complaining and got along very well.
